Another Canadian soldier killed by American "friendly fire". How the FUCK did this happen again? Normal apolitical blogging will return tomorrow. |
It always seems like a good idea at the time...

Talk to NATO. And when your number reaches 333 (number of American Forces killed in Afghanastan, we'll talk about being outraged.)
I am only surprised that we went so long without another of these incidents... the US army has one of the highest rates of friendly-fire kill rates in the developed world.
We had 14 airmen lost over the weekend, and no-one seems to know quite how it happened...
Damn war. Grrr.
~x~
Absolutely everything regarding the war is so sad.
Why are we there again?

What an ignorant sod.
First off, take Canadian casualties and multiply them by ten to get a comparable with U.S. casualties on a per capita basis. Or, even better, look at how many soldiers we've deployed to Afghanistan as a proportion of our total strength, as opposed to the U.S. ratio. Then come talk to us again.
And as far as NATO is concerned...how many American soldiers have been killed by Canadian fire? That's right, nil. NATO isn't the organization that trains USAF A-10 pilots. NATO isn't the guy pulling the trigger, making the final visual confirmation before engaging a target.
As Canadians, we should be damned glad the Americans are providing Close Air Support to our troops, because as of right now, we can't do it ourselves, and the guys on the ground need it. But assholes like Anonymous up at the top of this thread should stow their trash-talk when a USAF pilot mistakes a group of Canadian armoured vehicles for Taliban yahoos with AK-47's.
Oh I could say something. But I might piss of someone in the army/related to someone in the army. (I only do blanket generalizations against people without thinking at 1:00 a.m. hee hee!)
Right on. You actually repeated the exact words that came out of my mouth yesterday.
Wow. Amazing the ignorance that shows up in the comments, eh? Thanks for that "anonymous" - sheesh.
